2008 TRANSPONDER INFORMATION
DOWNLOAD INFORMATION AND APPLICATION

RENEWALS BEGIN DECEMBER 3, 2007 FOR ACTIVE 2007 TRANSPONDERS

  • All transponders purchased or renewed in 2007 will expire December 31, 2007, but will remain valid until January 31, 2008.
  • 2008 transponders are valid on January 2, 2008 and expire December 31, 2008.
  • New transponders can be purchased beginning January 2, 2008 at the Santa Rosa Island Authority.

Hours of Operation:

  • January 2 to January 31, 2008: 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday-Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturdays.
  • February 1 to December 31, 2008: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.   Monday-Friday.
  • Transponders may be purchased from Santa Rosa Island Authority. Transponder sales office will be closed on holidays.

Transponder Costs:·     

  • The cost of a transponder is never pro-rated.
  • $50 for public transponders (2 axles – one vehicle or motorcycle) an additional $.50 per axle for trailers is due at the toll booth when pulled behind a vehicle with a public transponder. 
  • $70 for commercial transponders (more than two axles, all vehicles displaying commercial markings including Magnetic or Rooftop advertising signs). Up to 9 axles total.
  • Cash or check only.  Make checks payable to Escambia County BCC.

New Transponder Purchases:  Beginning Wednesday, January 2, 2008
At Santa Rosa Island Authority office- 1 Via de Luna, Pensacola Beach.

  1. Provide completed application to Transponder Sales Representative.
  2. Cash, Check or Money Order (Made payable to Escambia County BCC)
  3. Debit cards and/or credit cards are not accepted.
  4. Receipts given.

Transponder Installation:

  • Transponders must be permanently affixed to each vehicle below the inside rear view mirror by an authorized employee.
  • Transponders not permanently affixed by an authorized employee will be confiscated and cancelled. Transponders attached with Velcro or any unauthorized tape will also be cancelled.                                                                                   

Renewal Options:  Beginning December 3, 2007

Regular Renewal- Santa Rosa Island Authority

  1. Provide a completed application to the annual pass representative.
  2. Cash, check, money order (made payable to Escambia County BCC) Debit cards and/or credit cards are not accepted.
  3. Receipts given.
  4. All renewals after January 31, 2008 must be done at Santa Rosa Island Authority.

Express Renewal- Submit completed application with payment, transponder no# and tag no# to any toll collector in any open lane, day or night or drop off completed application with check to SRIA.

DOWNLOAD INFORMATION AND APPLICATION

Express renewal ends January 31, 2008.

  1. Application must be filled out completely – any applications with incomplete information will not be renewed and will be returned.
  2. Check or money order only, made payable to Escambia County BCC- NO CASH. Debit cards and/or credit cards are not accepted.
  3. Your cancelled check or money order is your receipt – NO OTHER RECEIPT PROVIDED.

Mail-In Renewal- Renewal must be received no later than January 31, 2008.  No receipt provided. Checks or Money order will be your receipt. No Cash.  Follow Express Renewal steps 1 – 3 above and mail to:

Replacement of Transponders:

  • A $2.00 service charge will apply to any valid transponder that needs to be replaced, reattached, or transferred to another vehicle. The transponder and vehicle must be presented at the time of the transaction. 
  • In the event a transponder is stolen or destroyed, the replacement fee is $20.00. Proper purchase documentation for the transponder and documentation of a police report or insurance claim is required for a $20.00 replacement.  If no documentation is presented, a new transponder will be affixed to your vehicle at a cost of $50.00 for a public vehicle or $70.00 for a commercial vehicle.
  • Any transponder left on a vehicle that has been sold, traded or otherwise relinquished from your possession will not constitute as a $20.00 replacement.

General Information:

  • Transponders are valid for the Bob Sikes Toll Plaza only and will not work at any other toll plaza.  Only transponders purchased from the Bob Sikes Toll Plaza Office will allow passage across the Bob Sikes Bridge.
  • Each new transponder must be purchased separately.  If you have multiple vehicles, you must fill out a separate application for each vehicle and pay separately. The vehicle the new transponder is to be attached to must be present at the time of the sale.
  • The transponder is the property of Escambia County/ Santa Rosa Island Authority and must be surrendered upon request.

Note: Maximum speed limit is 5 mph through the toll plaza or transponder may not read.  Allow the gate to cycle for the vehicle ahead before proceeding.
